Getting Started with MangaOra

Your first manga in minutes: create a story, add a character, and generate your first panel with AI.

Create a story

Go to Stories and add a new story. Give it a title and paste or type your first scene—even a few paragraphs is enough. You can break it into chapters later. This story will be the source for your first project and for the AI when it suggests panels and characters.

Add at least one character

In Characters, create a character: name and a short description (e.g. “Young woman, long black hair, red headband, martial arts gi”). Optionally add a reference image. You’ll assign this character to panels so the AI knows who’s in the scene and keeps them consistent.

Start a project from your story

Open your story and use “Plan my manga” to get an AI-generated breakdown: suggested panels, character list, and continuity notes. Create a project from the story—the editor opens with the outline and optional panel list already filled in. You can edit the outline or leave it as-is.

Generate your first panel

In the project editor, open the Create panels tab. Pick the first panel in your outline (or type a simple description like “Wide shot of a dojo at dawn”). Assign your character if they’re in the shot. Click Generate. When the image appears, you can add it to the page, then move on to the next panel. That’s the core loop: outline, describe, generate, add to the page.

Next steps

From here you can add more characters, refine prompts using the tips in “Writing great panel prompts,” and keep consistency with “Keeping characters consistent.” When you’re ready, use “Export your manga” to get images or a PDF. You’ve gone from idea to manga—the rest is practice and iteration.
